This summer The Latvian Operetta foundation, in collaboration with Ikšķile district self-government hosts the second Operetta festival in Ikšķile that is going to take place on the 14th and 15th of July the newly renovated Ikšķile open-air concert venue as well as the renovated Ikšķile Folk House and other venues in Ikšķile. The audiences will have a chance to enjoy splendid concerts, creative activities for children, a premjere of a musical play for kids “ Karlsson” coffee talks on Harijs Misiņš and Kārlis Pamše, who would both turn 100 years old this year, etc.
The festival will begin with a charity concert “ Soul Strings” at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ikšķile with the participation of Sonora Vaice and young operetta soloists as well as a violin grant to Amanda Patjanko, a Form 4 pupil at the Ikšķile School of Music. It will be followed by a concert with the young Latvian mezzo-soprano from Austria, Helena Sorokina and jazz-band Eddie Luis und die Gnadenlosen.
Participating in the festival will be soloists from Italy – Anta Jankovska (soprano), Poland – Anna Choczai (soprano) and Emil Lawecki (tenor), the Latvian operetta soloists Sonora Vaice, Marlēna Keine, Emīls Kivlenieks, Nauris Indzeris, Dainis Skutelis, Laura Purena as well as operetta singers and dancers, and the operetta orchestra conducted by Guntars Bernāts.
At the closing of the operetta festival there will be a Waltz evening where each and every one will have a chance to enjoy a dance tour hosted by the operetta orchestra.
