Rūdolfs Macats


Rudolfs Macats is a young and creative Latvian musician. He is best known as a pianist and composer in jazz and improvised music scene. Rudolf’s musicality represents the brilliance of artistry in combination with present sound of his inner urge, his musical goal is to deliver enlightenment energy to the music listener during every performance he has.  

Rudolfs has performed as a professional pianist since 2006 within various projects in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Georgia and Curacao. Rudolfs has finished Bachelor in jazz piano department in Conservatorium Van Amsterdam, where he studied together with Dutch pianists Harmen Fraanje, Karel Boehlee, Rob van Bavel  and Belgian pianist Kriss Goessens. Also during his studies Rudolfs had a chance to have workshops with American pianists Jason Moran, Aaron Goldberg, John Beasley and John Taylor. Since 2013 Rudolfs has been dedicating himself to playing drums. During the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2014, Rudolfs had a chance to study composition together with Jacob Anderskov, Aaron Parks, Jan Balke, Carsten Dahl and Tyshawn Sorey.
