Hipstokrātija was founded in 2013 in Riga when two creative personalities, both passionate about music and arts, united. There are two in music and arts involved personalities playing in the band: Kristaps Zirnis – the band’s producer who is responsible for recording and mastering, and Mārtiņš Strautiņš – a multi-instrumentalist, familiar with various musical instruments.

Experiments and exceeding and defying musical borders are the basis for this band. DIY principle, which is respected in each band’s action, characterizes the duet. The band’s philosophy, working manner and methods are significantly influenced by indie and lo-fi music. Both band members has a strong desire to create music that they would enjoy themselves, without paying attention to how it is implemented.
