Kārlis Lācis is a well-known name among Latvian contemporary composers. His recent creative contribution includes musicals Pūt vējiņi (2012) and Onegin (2013), both rewarded with the highest annual theatre award for the best author of music. Along with the scores for the theatre productions, movies and musical arrangements, big part of his work is dedicated to vocal and choral music, symphonic and instrumental compositions, including the premieres of Te Deum (2014) with the State Choir of Latvia and Double Concerto for Flute, Oboe and Orchestra 42.195 (2014) with Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. Along with the above-mentioned activities in academic and theatre music field, Kārlis Lācis contribution in Latvian popular music field includes numerous arrangements for TV series, live shows, national celebrations, animation films and documentaries. His creative ambitions were embodied in various albums coproduced with such artists as Linda Leen (album Chameleon) and Intars Busulis (albums KИNO, AKTs, CITĀ©). Kārli’s friendships with poets has resulted as three award winning studio albums “Ziedonis.Lācis.Sievietes.” with the lyrics of Imants Ziedonis; “Mežā”, an album inspired by verses of Māra Zālīte, and “Lāču tēta dziesmas”, an album written for kids in collaboration with Kārlis Vērdiņš.
