Katrina Gupalo is internationally recognized as one of Latvia’s most extraordinary musicians, currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Katrina is noted for her versatility as an artist – her repertoire ranges from Classicism to premieres of works by contemporary composers and forays into popular genres, and she performs both as a pianist and a singer (trained by Anita Garanca, Arturas Burke, Janet Lawson and Inga Berzina). She is famed for a poignant stage presence and vivid interpretations, which are partially due to her additional education in theatre. Her and pianist Andrejs Osokins programme ”100 YEARS WITH PIAF”, which was prepared in collaboration with French Institute in Latvia, has been performed with a great success and interest of audience in twelve Latvian cities. Katrina has won major prizes at numerous international competitions in Paris, Moscow and London. Katrina is a Yamaha fellow, and a laureate of Latvian Television Competition for Young Musician. In 2015 Katrina has participated in the Music Academy of the West Festival in Santa Barbara, CA. She has collaborated with many distinguished pianists and musicians, including Alan Gilbert, Leon Fleisher, Robert McDonald, Dmitri Bashkirov, Thomas Ades, Sergejs Osokins, Christopher Elton, Jerome Lowenthal and Mikhail Voskresensky.
