Band Sigma was founded in 2005 in Riga. It consists of three musicians – Jānis Ozoliņš (vocal, keyboards), Kaspars Lastovskis (bass) and Uģis Eihvalds (drums, percussions). All of them have gained musical education and previous experience in other musical projects. Jānis and Uģis have played together in a pop rock band Punch and after it had come to an end, together with the bass player Kaspars from bands G-Spot and S.I.L.S. made up a new project where the traditional guitar is replaced with keyboards. Band’s music is influenced by pop rock, indie rock and electronic, as well as ideas of American minimal music. In 2012 in cooperation with 4 contemporary poets Sigma created a music/poetry performance „Soundtrack of our times”. Since then more songs with lyrics from poets Kārlis Vērdiņš, Anna Auziņa, Arvis Viguls, Inga Gaile, Uldis Bērziņš have been written. Band is working on their first album that will include best of the songs created over the years and soundtrack of the theatre play “Pēterburgas žīdi” (Jews from Petersburg), whose premiere was in May 2014.
